Baker in disguise

bake and breakI’ve seen a few good men turn out perfect peach cobbler at the campsite, but that’s no wonder. They’ve been preparing the dutch oven dessert for years. What really marked surprise was discovering that our neighbor is a baker in disguise. He keeps busy working with the law, staying active with his family, and training to look like a Marine. But last weekend we realized he’s a baker in disguise. The pace was all business in his kitchen, and he baked a load of Portuguese Sweet Bread with loaves to share. Though he hasn’t revealed his recipe, our neighbor hinted that the high volume of eggs and yeast are key in his ingredients. Bake it and break it. Thanks, baker!

Aw, shucks. Thanks for the kind words. Your picture makes it much prettier. I need to keep practicing and someday I’ll make it as good as my Vavoa (grandmother).

Your grandmother would surely approve. We’ll be happy to test your next go at Vavoa’s recipe!
