Fresh from the farm

Want to pick your own? Find a friend and a farm and stock up on seasonal fruits and vegetables. With four young and hungry helpers, The Cookery  gathered enough Hudson Valley peaches to keep the cobbler coming long after Labor Day. If you’re in the area, pick your own at Ochs Orchard in Warwick. With the high volume of picking they welcomed over the weekend, best bets would be to try the farm late in the week for peaches and berries. Call ahead for prime picking prospects.

Not in New York’s Hudson Valley? Find a farm near you. Pick your spot at www.pickyourown.org

Once you’ve gathered those peaches, try our recipe for Dutch Oven Peach Cobbler.
